Shou sugi ban “Anvil” pedestal in stacked and carved pine. The piece was burned afterwards- removing the softer surface wood and giving it a textured surface where the harder year wood remains. This piece was then dyed and sealed so there is no transfer of charcoal to other surfaces. A piece of sculpture as much as a functional side table. From a local woodworker.
